How do I create and organize folders?
Create folders, organize your files and manage permissions from the Everabyte dashboard, plus simple naming best practices.
Folders help you organize your files in Everabyte. You create your folders, place your files inside them, and manage the folders and their permissions from your dashboard. Whether you keep a few files or several thousand, a clear folder tree remains the easiest way to stay in control.
Creating and organizing folders
You can create folders and organize your files inside them. Folders and their permissions are managed in the dashboard. Start from a short list of top-level folders, then go one level deeper only when it genuinely helps.
Note — For access management within a team, see [Roles and permissions](/en/help/teams-admin/roles-permissions).
Organization best practices
Two simple habits make day-to-day filing easier:
- A consistent naming convention. Use explicit, homogeneous folder names (for example “Clients”, “Projects”, “Invoices 2026”) so you can find content at a glance.
- Thematic filing. Naming conventions and the use of tags are well-established management practices for keeping a storage space readable, especially as it grows over time. If you use tags, keep the list short and consistent.
- A structure that stays stable over time. Avoid reshuffling the folder tree on a regular basis: a stable organization is easier to remember, for you and for your team.
The larger your space grows, the more time these habits save you: a simple, regular folder tree stays easier to maintain than a deep, complex one.
Storage and your folders
The storage consumed by your files counts against your plan’s quota, whichever folder they are in. See Understanding your storage quota to track your usage.
